निवासियों के आहार और प्रचार से काफी अलग है । कोरिया के भोजन विशेषकर
अनाज(खासकर चावल) , मांस , और कुछ सब्ज़ियों पर जोर देता है । हालांकि अमेरिका, पूंजीवाद , पश्चिम का प्रभाव और औद्योगीकरण जैसे तत्वों के मेल के साथ यहाँ के लोगों ने पिज्जा, हैमबर्गर और बीयर को भी अपनाया है । इसके अलावा जापानी सुशी और चीन के कुछ भोजन तथा दक्षिण पूर्वी एशिया और भारत के व्यंजनों की लोकप्रियता भी प्रमुख है।
फेछु किमची कोरिया में सबसे ज्यादा प्रसिद्ध और लगभग हर जगह उपलब्ध है। फेछु (चीनी बंदगोभी समझ सकते है) किमची में इतनी ताक़त है की कई बार यह कोरिया के अर्थव्यवस्था को काफी गहरे रूप से प्रभावित कर डालती है । किमची के इस्तेमाल ने कोरिया को कई मामलो में सबल बनाया है पर इसके स्वाद और निर्भरता के कारण विदेशों में उन्हें काफी परेशानी भी झेलनी पड़ी है। किमची की प्रसिद्धि के कारण कई बार लोग कोरिया का मुख्य भोजन समझ लेते है जबकि यह साइड व्यंजन है।
